The goals thread

My cousin is a doctor up in Oregon. I’m hoping to improve my walking/endurance by this summer because he’s invited me to camping up there when he has some time off.

I’ll think about that every time I strap those hateful ankle weights on (just went up to 15 lbs per leg).

Plus, I’ve always wanted to drive PCH the entire length of California and visiting him would be the perfect opportunity.
Sounds like a good goal to seek. Wishing you the best with it.

Goal is to go up into the attic and get my suitcase and my nieces comforter set. Its a total wreck up there and I have to pull the ceiling door down and walk up the stairs. It makes me nervous that I'll fall.

I will try to not overthink
When I start to overthink I tell myself something that I read once: "You're not going to overthink your way to a better future. And you're not going to overthink your way to a better past." This reminds me to accept imperfection, uncertainty, and what we cannot control. I know 12 Step groups have this saying: "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference." Now personally I hate 12 Step groups. I believe they do more harm than good. I especially don't care for the religious tone of them. But I do believe they have the right idea when it comes to acceptance.

And when it comes to things we cannot control it's good cut out anything that continually reminds us of what we cannot control. In other words DO NOT look at the news. It doesn't serve us in any way.

Also if you can try to identify ANTs (Automatic Negative Thoughts). When you have these thoughts you can write down these thoughts, why you think you're having these thoughts, and any possible alternatives to these thoughts.

This is great advice, thank you :)
