Hello friends, and welcome to January!

How has it been for you so far?
Does anyone have any resolutions?

I’m not big into them personally, but this year I have set a goal of doing something creative daily (even if it’s justa tiny doodle).I’ve also started to put money in a tin for every book I read to fund next year’s reads.

Thank you to @Fox for the wonderful photograph on some Greek mountains! Did anyone else get any snow? I was wishing for it, but only got crazy amounts of rain - please share some snow photos below if you have them.

It’s a super cute gif from my favorite anime called “Fire Force”.

Do you have any New Year Resolutions? After the move out to my new apartment
I have plans to start dating to find a partner and build more on the existing friendships. Dating is a completely new experience to me this year and in life overall.

Do you have any pet peeves?
When people decide to review something in media entertainment (movie, music ~) and give it a number rating. It doesn’t really say anything about the actual experience you may have.

Something you wish you knew sooner?
There’s sadly no golden path to take in my mental health life or way of coping that is going to work 100% of the time. Experiencing and dealing with things in the present moment and as they come is essential

Is there a person that's super important to you in your life?
My sister got me out of a difficult situation years ago. I’m glad to be in her orbit, as they say. She offers great insight, intellect and keeps progressing in life which is a great source of inspiration to me.

Feedback Wanted!
Members - we need some help! Although we know our site is a wonderful place it’s no secret that it’s a little quiet here on times and we’re struggling with being a little buried on Google. We are working hard on being more visible to allow us to be found by the people that could really benefit from this lovely community.

I’ve made a short survey. It’s anonymous (unless you choose to enter your username) and it takes around a minute to complete if you’re feeling speedy. The date is only accessible to Admin, and will only be used to benefit the site. Thank you in advance, and thank you to @Angie and @bubblebear for guinea pigging it for me to make sure it's definitely safe to use :)

What's your favourite thing about SF?
The community is caring and consistent. I can always find people to interact with in the chat or forum.

Do you have any New Year resolutions?
After the move out to my new apartment I have plans to start dating to find a partner and build more on the existing friendships. Dating is a completely new experience to me this year and in life overall.

What's your favourite thing to do to pass the time?
I’m deep into ambient & electronic music and love to spin vinyl records. This hobby means the world to me.

Do you have any pet peeves?
When people decide to review something in media entertainment (movie, music ~) and give it a number rating. It doesn’t really say anything about the actual experience you may have.

Left handed or right handed?
Left handed when writing, but when playing soccer I use my right leg. :p

Favourite colour?
Bright red when it’s for a shirt I’d wear. Darker red when it’s for a person their hair colour.

Favourite place to be?
The living room is where I can be myself. Digital place: The good side of the internet. Both of these have saved my life and added great value to my hobbies, there’s so much to learn and discover.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

Japan for sure, maybe Tokyo is too much for my senses - so then maybe Osaka. It’s going to be expensive!

What are you most grateful for?
Grateful that I’m currently in a positive mindspace. There’s always going to be the “next big thing” to look forward to, but I’m where I want to be.

Your favourite possession?
My electric kettle, loose leaf tea is life!

Something you wish you knew sooner?
There’s sadly no golden path to take in my mental health life or way of coping that is going to work 100% of the time. Experiencing and dealing with things in the present moment and as they come is essential.

Random fact about you?

- (I really can’t think of anything ^_^, heh)

What would you consider to be your greatest achievement so far?
Overcoming the great beast that’s OCD. See: https://www.suicideforum.com/community/threads/ocd-exposure-therapy-cbt-and-experiences.176744/
It’s been such a strange long journey and I finally felt relief.

Is there a person that's super important to you in your life, if so who and why?
My sister got me out of a difficult situation years ago. I’m glad to be in her orbit, as they say. She offers great insight, intellect and keeps progressing in life which is a great source of inspiration to me.

Love & care,

Thanks @Brân @Citizen Insane and others for the newsletter.

I like the pictures.

I forgot the question. Oh, goals. I am going to double down on my 2024 goal of more gratitude and less complaining, and also I have a new major goal to break internet addiction, and weed addiction, and to try to spend more time in the real world aka meatspace. I still have not written down more 2025 goals, so I need to do that soon.

The Burnet flag of Texas, first official flag after independence from Mexico.

What's your favourite thing about SF?
The supportive and advice that is given to those in need and the welcoming attitude for new members.

Do you have any New Year resolutions?
None so far, but I never make any.

What's your favourite thing to do to pass the time?
Besides sleep, reading and checking out online typically looking up historical things.

Do you have any pet peeves?
Humans.

Left handed or right handed?
Right, but with bad writing.

Favourite colour?
Purple.

Favourite place to be?
Any place warm would be great, soon it will be under blankets and with a mattress warmer going.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
I don't really know. I like the idea of travel but getting older and lazier has me saying I prefer to just stay home, bundled up and staying warm.

What are you most grateful for?
Having a good job, as far as one can be good and a dry warm house.

Your favourite possession?
Right now sitting at the desk the wool thermals I have on. :)

Something you wish you knew sooner?
How quickly things go South as you age. When you are young and even after getting older say in 40s or 50s you still feel pretty invincible, that feel fades quicker and quicker.

Random fact about you?
I can't whistle. I just make a blowing or spitting noise. LOL

What would you consider to be your greatest achievement so far?
One from being here is there is a young woman that is a member that I gave advice that helped her along her path. She pops in from time to time and lets me know things are improving. The what are the odds part is that she and I live only 12 miles from each other both in small towns under 500 folks in farmland and people from both towns travel back and forth between us. They have a good cafe, library and bakery and we have a truck stop which has a pretty good meat and produce market.

Is there a person that's super important to you in your life, if so who and why?
My nieces two little girls, they are still young enough to just enjoy exploring life. Outside the family there is a woman I have known for a long time. We are similar in being outcasts and loners so we can get together for a bit from time to time to visit and not have to explain loving solitude as a normal state for most of the time.
