Setting aside this forum, I find that online forum communities bring out the worst in people. I don’t know if they mean to be the worst but they act in passive aggressive ways and with a strange feeling of wanting to twist views and statements into things that are not the original intent.

im a member of a music forum and its incredible how dogmatic and strangely angry people become on the various topics or help requests. And this is just one area of the internet that’s a detailed rabbit hole of a community.

i used to find those places valuable to get information but there exists a world where people are angry and wanting to prove something and it seems to have infiltrated life.

I know exactly what you mean. It's really disheartening how often genuine curiosity or differing opinions get met with hostility or passive aggression in online forums. It’s like some people aren’t even trying to understand, they’re just waiting for an opportunity to pounce or twist words into something that fits whatever narrative they’re pushing.

I still think there’s value in these communities. There are helpful people out there, but it takes more effort now to filter through the noise.

I agree with you, Jsinjin. There are a lot of angry frustrated people out there, and the internet provides an outlet for them. IRL we have to grin and bear it all day long. We can't lash out at the people who deserve it. We can't say what we really think. On the internet, there's rarely any accountability beyond people being nasty back to us.
