About my privacy

Hello ,
I have been wondering about this
There are things that I feel like posting here but then I think that posting too much can led people to find me online because I do consider myself pretty easy to be found online
I don't want that
But also sometimes I am like I am okay if people here really got to know who I am but I wouldn't want someone from outside ( as in someone deliberately check this forum to see what I was going through and stuff )
This may sound very delusional
But I wanted to know , is there any confidential policy on this forum ? That is , the thing that is shared here only stays here. Is there something like that ?
So as to if someone does end up checking this forum , they are legally not allowed to share it with anyone else

The privacy policy is here: https://www.suicideforum.com/community/pages/PrivacyPolicy/

In short, the only personal information that is associated with your posts is your email address, and nothing is shared unless legally required. You can make the details on your profile private by going into settings.

If you are concerned with someone finding you here, you could use an email mask (such as mozilla relay), or a free email account that is not linked to any information that would reveal your IRL identity.

No, there is nothing of the sort here in terms of confidentiality. There's always a way around it, unfortunately.

You can set up an email address other than the one you use regularly, and I'd suggest not connecting any other social media accounts to your profile here.

You might also want to limit what you reveal in posts to safeguard someone from the outside identifying you. Names are especially important. Don't give the real names of people you know, where you work, go to school, or live so that someone might put all the pieces together and identify you.

Be sure to always close your browser, don't save your password to automatically log in, and never use the same screen name you use here elsewhere on the internet.

I would just be careful when posting. I sometimes get carried away and forget that several hundred non members from around the world are also looking at this at any one time. You need to keep yourself safe, it's very easy when your feeling really low and alone to forget that what you write is basically public.

Nothing delusional in the least about protecting your privacy. Just using some simple things like not sharing names, address, phone etc can help a lot in doing that.

Email addresses are not visible to users. General tips to protect your privacy online :
  1. Avoid sharing real names – Use a username or nickname that doesn’t include your full name.
  2. Keep your location private – Don’t post specific addresses, cities, or identifiable landmarks.
  3. Don’t share contact info – Never post your email address, phone number, or social media handles publicly.
  4. Skip personal photos – Avoid posting selfies or photos that show your face, home, car, or other identifiable things.
  5. No documents or screenshots with sensitive data – Always blur or crop out names, account numbers, or any private details.
  6. Use caution with dates – Don’t share your birth date, travel plans, or exact times you’ll be somewhere.
  7. Watch your metadata – When uploading images or documents, remove metadata (like GPS coordinates or author info).
  8. Limit details about others – Protect friends and family by not sharing their names or photos without permission.
  9. Be mindful with kids' info – Never share identifiable details about minors, including school names or locations.
  10. When in doubt, leave it out – If something might help someone figure out who you are, best to not post it.
