Need some technical help

Hello, a fellow good person mr may recommended me that I can post a thread here for my problem and I might get help as people with technical knowledge often read these threads, I have been told. So to the geniuses out there šŸ˜† I would appreciate if you can be of help. So long story short :- I have chats, photos, videos and notes app writing ahm maybe along with some passwords as well that I would like to be stored or kept in a safe space. So in case my phone would be taken from me it would still be there. However, I don't want to delete the information from my phone because I want easy access and it feels personal YK? Like you have it on your phone, THAT makes it your phone. Also because I am not sure if it would happen or not but nonetheless. It's like taken or even if it would be checked. So even though I have app lock and everything and once I open it there is no going back I guess 😭 lol what am I expecting. Why don't we have magical glasses which only allows my access to my phone ah but yes.
Why am I doing this? I do feel threatened and I am afraid if my phone would be checked by my guardians. The information that is there is really private. (DON'T WORRY I AM NOT HURTING ANYONE OR SOME SHIT) it's just I don't like to be sharing my privacy, my chatssss with my exxx loverrrr broo common so yea.
Help me šŸ™ I don't want to be constantly worried about my information
Also also my journals, I am afraid they might read it. What should I do about them? There's no such hiding place for me. Moreover if something really big happened and I would be demanded to read them nooooo absolutely no.
This is an absolute horrific nightmare for me and I don't want this.
It's not happening, not yet atleast but that doens't mean it can not happen
He is a narcissist, don't trust narcissists and I feel threatened because of something that has happened to my sibling..
So yea, it's better to take measures
Thankyou for reading it out šŸ’œ
Havs a good day or night or evening or whatever is happening there haha
Peace āœŒļø

I’m not a security expert, but my day job involves protecting confidential information, so I’m HIPAA certified.

First question I have is are you using iPhone or Android? iPhone has features that make it easy to hide your apps such that a password is needed to open it. You already said you are using app lock, though, so my second question is why you don’t feel like that’s enough?

If you are using a laptop then I would recommend an encryption solution of some sort.

Passwords go in a password manager app.

Information security is a huge topic. In general you need to consider who might be trying to access your information, and take measures accordingly. The ideal strategy is different if your adversary is a jealous ex, which is what I am gathering from your OP, vs. a more sophisticated actor.

Oh, regarding your photos and other things you want to protect from hardware loss or failure, you can put them on a cloud storage provider. There are about a thousand of them out there, so it’s a question of how much security you need vs ease of use. The two are related in that higher security is harder to use, and easier to use involves less security.

Okay so it's actually my guardians, my mom and my uncle.
I am using Android, I have hidden apps but the thing is if you search them on the app's bar or on Google they would pop up
I feel that my app lock isn't enough because obviously if I open my phone (force to do so) then obviously what's the point of app lock as I would open the apps for them myself.
I am not using laptop
Can you recommend some password manager apps?
I already told you that it's my mom and uncle
This is bad, I do need high security.
Lemme just put this into short terms - My guardians (my mom and uncle) have trust issues but the big thing is that they are abusive so can't be trusted. Recently they did something to my sibling (similarly making them forcefully open their phone etc even though he is legally an adult) I have things in my phone I don't want to share.
I am not sure if ever i would be in a similar situation but I feel threatened so I wanted to know is there a way my phone is safe, the information in it is safe. Even if I open it, hopefully not! But would it be safe.
Also same with my journals (they are physical hard journals with real pages) so is there a way to keep them safe.
I know it's perhaps not the ideal place to ask moreover it's kind of weird because you can never know what an abusive person would do next but still I thought maybe someone would have some advice.
Thankyou for giving your time.

Oh dear. I am sorry it’s so bad. I’m more familiar with the Apple ecosystem than the Android one. You are ultimately in a bind, because your guardians have the ability to force you to unlock your phone. Since our phones are the master key for everything, it is impossible to have an airtight container around what you wish to protect. If they’re not too tech savvy, then there’s stuff you could do that they probably wouldn’t detect, but yeah that’s a lot more messy than just a technical issue.

Is it possible for you to get a device that only you know about and secure that - and sort of use the current phone as a decoy?

Oh regarding password manager apps, 1Pass is the one with the best reputation. I would have to do more research to be able to compare and contrast other apps, but if you want to just go with that, well, you could do a lot worse.

Thankyou. Yes, it's bad nonetheless.
Unfortunately no, I don't have enough pocket money and I don't earn money myself so it would take

Thankyou and yes it's really bad. Ahan I understand that assuming you're perhaps an apple user or YK just know more about it that's fine. And yes you're right.. it's quite messy then just a tech thing.
No, unfortunately not. Because a, I don't earn and my pocket money would take yearsssssss for me to purchase a phone.
B, it's impossible to hide that from them. I don't go out, moreover I am not allowed to go out alone except for school and if I order it online they would 100% would know because they would ask what was in the package and even if I lie then there is this thing that someone else from my family would recieve it and obviously they don't care about privacy so they would ask what's in the package. The delivery guy obviously would tell.
Can you elaborate what did you meant by "well you could do a lot worse" in the password thread you replied to me

Bitwarden would be my recommendation for password manager but if they can force you to unlock your phone what would stop them from forcing you to unlock your password manager?

For journaling maybe use Google Keep? (via web browser on a separate google account with 2FA enabled)

Photos will be tough. Google photos does seem to have locked folder functionality.
