Wow! That’s terrific that you have done yoga for so long! I hope I can follow in your footsteps. Also, you’ve really worked your way up with the meditation. 22 minutes definitely takes practice! I’m only at maybe 4-6 minutes, on good days. You’ve got it going on :)

You have a good point about people finding your journal and reading it. I’ve always been paranoid about that too lol.

You should totally learn the cello!
Oh yes, it really resonated with me all those years ago, although my practice has evolved a lot over the years. I used to teach hatha yoga (in my 30s), but it took some of the joy away from my personal practice. Apparently, even a minute of meditation is beneficial, so 4-6 must be more beneficial.
I forgot to mention about 6-months ago, I resolved to make my bed every morning for the first time in my life! I've done it every day since, it was a revelation I feel sooooo much better for it!

Very cool! I’ve never heard of hatha yoga, and I shall look into it more. Do you have a favorite type?

Yea, even 1 minute can make a difference, which I try to do at work in my car if I’m struggling. It really does have benefits that I haven’t found with much else.

Making your bed daily is a good one too! I’ve always heard that this is a good way to start your day with a small accomplishment, and a reasonably easy way to learn to build habits into your day.

What I find really helps me, especially this season, is doing anything a bit crafty. I wrote a lot of Christmas cards and more or less decorated them, I DIY'ed boxes for my Christmas gifts and wrapped them nicely, and I made 32 name tags from scraps, using all sorts of stationary I already had at home (plus nail polish, lol).

Physically it works well in diminishing any headaches I might have, and mentally, well, it keeps me busy with things that are not stressful, it makes me happy because it's for someone else, and I don't feel pressured by perfectionism because they're mostly "easy" things to do and I can't really fail them. :)
So cool! It sounds like you really got into your crafts 😬

I’m happy that it’s a happy place for you. And it’s even better that you can let go of the perfectionism here. Omg, I know perfectionism well also, and it’s so refreshing to find something you can do without it getting in the way!

Lately I've been doing the daily Calm meditation (ten minutes) on the Calm app. I did pay for a year membership and can gift anyone who wants a free month. Hint that if you create an account and then back out they will send you an email for 1/2 off.

I also like bubble baths with epsom salts and unscented bath oil (which I mix a few drops of lavender oil with). The magnesium in the epsom salts absorbs through the skin - great for muscular aches and pains as well as relaxation

Working out always makes me feel better afterwards. And showering.

Cleaning is a gift that never stops giving, at least for me. I feel more peaceful when our apartment is clean and organized, bathroom is clean etc. We've always had a lot of clutter and I resolved when we got a couple of end tables with drawers that I would keep the place clutter free. It has helped a lot.
Guided meditations are great! And you can never go wrong with a lovely shower after a long day 🤗

I like that: “cleaning is a gift that never stops giving.” Maybe if I said that more, I would clean more lol. It’s so true and simple, but cleaning can be so hard for me. I try to remember “a place for everything, and everything in its place,” but that doesn’t seem to motivate. Any suggestions on how to get yourself to clean more easily, or is like a remembrance of the reward of cleanliness that makes the difference?

I just don't want to say my full name here because of anonymity reasons. I mean I don't care if people know who I am, but I know it's against the rules to put your full name here.

I hope my stories don't suck too much. lol jk
Why not post sections of them on this forum? Just came across the poetry by Tor and really liked it. I love philosophical texts such as the I Ching where you can pull out a couple of lines and really think about them. and in the same way you can really reflect upon what Tor is saying in a line or two, even though it forms part of a greater whole.

I feel better after any type of exercise. Lately I have been doing tai chi which in my karate school is basically karate without the pushups. But the forms can be done fast or slow (our teacher wants us to do them slow) and whilst I haven't practiced meditation outside of class I find it very useful to get into the mindset to learn new techniques. I just signed up for another year of tai chi and then I will be going for my black sash which in my school is equivalent to black belt. But in order to get it i have to develop more cardio and strength outside of class for the test. Wonderful - I have no objection.
