The goals thread

Adding a goal for @bobbob :
"Remind myself that very few people could write a 14,000 word article, period, rubbish or not, and that the loud noises, visual snow and depression don't change who I am - I am still as smart and capable as I have always been and I am not going to give away my identity to this shit."

Edit: If "shit" is too coarse for your posh sensibilities it can be replaced with "piffle".

Lu's goals for the day:
  • Eat healthy food.
  • Clean the kitchen.
  • Tidy the bedroom.
  • Change the bedding.
  • Turn the computer off by 10pm.
  • Take vitamins/supplements.
Thanks Lu, u made me laugh and smile. Hope you are doing well. Hope your house is snow sparking.

sorry, sparkling not sparking. if sparking, please turn off at mains!
Haha!

I think we can safely say that yesterday's goals were a total failure:

  • Eat healthy food. - YEP
  • Clean the kitchen. - NOPE
  • Tidy the bedroom. - NOPE
  • Change the bedding. - NOPE
  • Turn the computer off by 10pm. - YEP
  • Take vitamins/supplements. - NOPE
Bah.

Take two - same goals as yesterday. Hopefully minus the angst from yesterday that had me get in bed as soon as I got in from work and sulk about life!

Stop telling yourself that you "can't" and "its a waste of time" - self fulfilling prophecies and all that Dennis! It may take a little longer and it may be somewhat harder but it is still possible so stop beating on yourself or I swear to god I will come down there and bop you with your polo mallet! (is polo played with mallets? Or is that croquet? Seems like something you posh types would have either way)

What book are you gonna write?
What books do you like to read? (I love recommending books - pushing my favourite books onto people is one of my favourite hobbies!)

lol u. great post. BUT IM NOT POSH! Though I do call the toilet the loo. Im not sure about the book. I just like to wrte and (not withstanding your kind and sensible comments) am not sure that I will be able to do academic writing anymore. I thought I might write a book, kind of very dark comedy with satrirical spin, about what happed to me in the last 12 months, but with lots of flash backs to happier times. I know eevry body wants to write a book and few do and might be same with me. idk. I just need to do something which gives reason to get up in morning. Im sure there will be a fictionalisd F if I do write it, with fictionalised Lu.

Oh gosh, I forgot about the dog hair...we have 6 pets and it's a hairy situation ;) I guess I should add that to my goal for today too!

Okay so - finally cleaned the house - well, still need to do the bathroom, that is tonight's job. But shouldn't be a big job as it's by far the least untidy of the rooms in the house.

This week's goals:
  • Take meds every night.
  • Complete proper self care routine each night.
  • Eat nutritious food (not junk)
  • Turn off computer by 10pm each night.
  • Book holiday from work.
  • Clear out and organise the drawers in the bedroom.
  • Do the laundry
  • Get hair done.

This goal came to me while I was meditating this morning:

Once a week or so, my bf tries to instigate a fight with me and it always turns into a bout of emotional and verbal abuse where I'm made to feel insignificant. I used to always stand up and defend myself but it always ended in more insults, swearing, degrading then eventually a day or so of the silent treatment. I used to be so hurt by this.

If it happens again (when?), my goal is to try a new approach. I will not defend myself, I will simply walk away. This will result in the silent treatment anyway, but instead of thinking of this as a punishment, I will think of it as a relief that I'll have some time on my own to enjoy my hobbies, the pets or work on my self-therapy. I just have to remember when it happens that I need to tell myself it's an opportunity for me to have some peaceful alone time. Wish me luck.
