Morbid humor as an outlet/catharsis

One of my favorites was in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory after Augustus falls into the chocolate rivers and his mother says he can't swim to which Wonka says there is no better time to learn.

Even Grandpa Joe had a bit of a dark side in the movie.

Like after Mr. Salt follows Veruca down the garbage chute that leads to the furnace, Grandpa Joe says "Mr. Salt finally got what he wanted ... Veruca went first."

As a former swimming instructor I can attest to this lol. The best way to stay afloat is to move your legs and arms in slow circles. Many people who drown actually kind of freeze their legs and just flap their arms around.

Also, adults can learn to swim (enough to stay afloat at least) in a single class. I was shocked by how much easier it is to teach an adult to swim than a kid. They just have better control of their bodies and can follow instructions better.

All of us grandkids were taught similar to that and to dog paddle. My grandfather tossed us in the tank and told us what to do to tread water, dog paddle and how to get around and to continue from there. He did keep watch in case we needed help.
