Iām starting a movement. The goal is to make ādudeā an acceptable, gender neutral form of address. Especially between people who are meeting for the first time.
Iām always hung up on how to address women in the plural, because some take offense to āladies,ā and others are uptight about āgals.ā In the singular, sometimes āma'amā is expected (usually Southern US and Texas), but in states that are less formal, āmaāamā sounds like youāre calling them old or something.
And then what about non-binary identifying people?
Solution: Everyone is ādudeā or ādudes.ā
