I don't feel well. Just talk to me.

It seems like plenty of people in the military smoke, do you want to say why it's keeping you from serving?

I guess serving one the front lines, there might be limitations on smoking to prevent giving away your position, but other than that I'm not seeing the barrier.
Not smoking makes me more stupid. When I'm at home, I can smoke when I want to, which is very often. If I don't smoke often, I get abstinence syndrome in as little as 40-50 minutes. It is accompanied by severe impaired concentration and obsessive thoughts.
I do not think that in the military service I will be allowed to smoke when I want to.

As an experiment, (this was many years ago) I tried smoking for a year or 2. It was great. I got a lot of paintings done, and they sold pretty well too. But after a while I decided I needed to stop - too unheaalthy and smelly, and of course expensive.

I took up running instead, because it also helps focus my mind.

I'm very sorry to hear you will be in the military.

It's beautiful! What do you paint?

I used to run a long time ago. But now I'm old. Physical exercise, not running, helps with concentration too. If I get drafted into the army, they'll definitely make me run.

It's not definite yet.

The thing that keeps me from this decision is that I smoke a lot. That's a problem. Alain Carr's book didn't help me. The nicotine patch didn't help either..... Are there other ways?
Unfortunately, what worked for me won't work for you - I got pregnant!

The question of joining the army is a complex one. If you have skills that can be used behind the lines, by applying for a desk job now you might save yourself a call-up later.... I mean, I don't know if that's how it works in the Ukraine. In the long term, when the war is over, it may be the case that veterans enjoy a reputational advantage. Plus, if you feel you are stuck in your career right now, the army can train you to go in a different direction. On the downside there's the elevated risk of death.

That's good. Maybe it won't happen. Is there something particular you would like to do - with the hypothetical assumption that pretty much anything is possible, instead of the military.

I agree about physical exercise btw. For me, if I can manage to get a 30 miute workout in, my mind and body feel very much better for a while.

Yeah, I'd have to be Arnold Schwarzenegger in a movie where he was pregnant. It's a very old comedy:D

I'm thinking about it, thank you. Sometimes if previous methods don't work, you just have to go in a different direction.

That's right. And the blood starts moving faster, oxygenating the brain. And endorphins are produced. There are many benefits to exercise. And only one disadvantage - it gets boring quickly because it requires energy expenditure.
And the brain is very lazy, it tends to conserve energy any way it can, even at the cost of getting better. My brain :D

I've always enjoyed creating something. I even have one creation on Amazon, I won't give the link so as not to reveal myself.
Right now I'd like to go somewhere, but it's impossible. We only have F-16s and Shaheds flying around here :D*wacko I'm not talking about missiles *nerves
But I'm feeling pretty tired. Both from my old job, and from the pains in my body, and from my ex-girlfriend. This forum helps a bit, I feel better talking to you guys *shake

If anyone wants to give their opinion on the 8 hour work day, I'd love to hear it. I'm a bit stuck on this issue....
