I feel so stupid, but the bigger ones fit perfectly in my ears. I am happy now as the Eargasm plugs are more expensive than the Calmer ones.

I have trouble getting these to stay in my ears. The times I have, they are very effective at blocking out noise. I am using the smaller size that comes in the package. The larger ones are comically huge.
Yeah I use the smaller size too. I'm sorry they're not staying in, that's so annoying

Hi Pebble!

I also have to use ear buds for anxiety and managing the sounds around me. I’ve only tried two brands since they can all be so expensive but here is my experience

Loop - these were some noise cancelling ear buds I found on Amazon. I didn’t find these to block ANYTHING, everything was still very clear even with the ear buds in. I think they cost me around £30 so I was so disappointed with them. They came with different bud sizes but every one of them was still too big for my ears, personally. And after a while they got really uncomfortable with the hard plastic ends constantly digging into my ears.

dBud - I do like these ones, though they don’t block out the louder noises and chatter for me. They have adjustable sliders which is good if you need to be a little more aware of your surroundings, and come with a strap that goes around the back of your neck. There’s a magnet in the buds so when you’re not wearing them they just clip around your neck like a necklace which has been good when I’ve needed to put them in and I’m in a rush. My only problem with that is the fabric back can sometimes play on my sensory issues.

Obviously these are two very biased reviews but I do hope they help you, as well as anyone else looking for a solution!

I am just catching up with this thread. I do have problems with neighbour noise nut I generally wear over ear headphones playing white noise or music, I didn't realise there were so many different types of earplugs.

I used to use these squishy ones you roll up then insert but they always kept falling out and made wax build up. They were OK but expensive. So one time I saw some really cheap ones that seemed the same, except they fell apart and a few bits got lodged in my ear and stuck to my ear drum. I was deaf in one ear for a while. Only figured it out when I went to the doctor and he said I had a polyp on my ear drum. Cue a lot of panicking and a visit to the ENT specialist. Syringed my ears and removed the bits of crap from the crap earplugs 😩

When I do use earplugs I find it weird like being under water and can still hear things through vibration anyway. Maybe some of the suggestions here could be useful. I'll have a proper read.

Yes the underwater effect is occlusion, quite normal and it's hard to find earplugs that don't have that at all. the flares dont have occlusion because they don't block out enough noise

I'm going to buy the Loop Quiet 2 Plus. From what I can tell, they block the most noise. They will be handy when I'm having a psychosis episode. The Eargasms are too hard to insert in the ear canal. Wish me luck!

Wishing you the best. I know what you mean about anything that needs to be inserted in the ear. Those never work for me always uncomfortable or seeming to fall out.

Thanks, @KM76710. In my experience, it takes a while to adjust to these things being in your ears. My earbuds were always falling out until I tried the biggest size tips. Now they are fine.

I have considered it before
Usually I just use music instead

When living in a noisy area (often lots of loud people outside etc) it can help having something running in your speakers.
I use wallpaper engine. It cost about 2 or 3 dollars I think
Some of them have audio (could also pretty easily make your own)
I often have a wallpaper running with rain/storm sounds
It really help blocking noise from the outside
And I find it calming too
Advantage over a youtube video ofc being it can automatically opens when you launch your PC and will keep being open, compared to a video that ends
Can also adjust so it pauses when running games etc

Sorry if off topic, was more about being at home, but felt was close to relevant at least ☺️
