Moderation

The whole point of moderation is so that members don't see the posts that go 'over the top' with methods or insults, so it's natural and good that you haven't seen these posts. It's also true that members don't see many of your posts Clam which are not approved.

It seems we can't win either way though doesn't it - if we approve a thread such as this one then we've done wrong because we shouldn't have, but if we don't approve it we get threatening threads telling us to all piss off and die. I see you're now asking us to not approve a thread such as this, and that's ok we can do that.. but i'm worried that this is how you're thining right this minute but then tomorrow you'll forget you said this and then the staff will be the enemy again.

Believe it or not, we're really not out to get you. We're here to help keep the forum safe and as has been said earlier in this thread, other forums simply go ahead and ban members without giving them the option of being under moderation with regular reviews. I'm not saying we're the best or that you should be grateful i'm just trying to tell it as it really is.

If you still want this thread closed please let me know and I'll do it.

yes, I'm sure there are many. not so many when I am in a semi normal rational state of mind. I normally am not out to avenge anything on
good, or better days. but yes, I'm sure a lot get stopped at the

in a more or less general sense, of course. a thankless task, no doubt.
tis the nature of things. people tend to get worked up about anyone
who tries to maintain a modest degree of order or normality. I do anyway.
but not always. and I see what you mean. but not pertaining to this

I could easily have continued to make it an unpleasant thread.
I chose not to. now, it is merely a topic of discussion. maybe it should
be moved. if anyone is interested in saying any more. I said more than
enough. it's all how one looks at things. being under moderation is
inconvenient in the sense that real time responses to posts are not
possible and that's about all. not that big of a deal.

someone else may still have comments. that's up to them.


yes, well....there's no excuse for me to have that bad of a temper. it's a little
crazy, so no comment more than that. it's not a good way to be. I try to not
do that. and I try to admit when I am wrong. it is difficult. and words
can not be taken back any more than punches can. I realize that.

I don't understand. I said "close it if you want" or not. I als said "I prefer it
closed" but I was being ridiculous. still.....continuing to be ridiculous
about nothing really. but I didn't 'demand' for it to be closed or anything.

not under moderation, you would not feel the responsibility for having
allowed a ??? questionable thread? don't think of it that way. you

I can see why that would be a concern. it is not my intention to go ballistic anymore.

nah. it'll fizzle, as I said. don't worry about it. it's ok. being under moderation
just means ........my posts need approval. maybe that's good. most people

i have to respectfully disagree with you Jenny, i myself was banned without any warning from this site, based on false accusations and willful misinterpretation of my actions by a staff member who is no longer a chat mon and no longer posts or visits this site. This was a person that i genuinely went out of my way to try to help and was only too happy to converse with me on a daily basis not only about her own mood but the welfare of another member of this forum.

No attempt was made to substantiate the allegations, rather i was banned outright with no chance to put forward my side of the story.

It was only with extensive dialogue with one of the moderators who saw through the accusations that i was permitted back, and i have been under limited moderation ever since, meaning i cannot use pm or the chat facility. This has been the status quo for more than six months and nothing has been reviewed.

I heard about that. in your case, it is completely out of line and
uncalled for. I don't blame you for being annoyed. my situation
is different. obviously. but you should not be under moderation for this
length of time. not a chance. from the obvious "facts", you never should
have been banned in the first place. maybe making this thread had a good purpose after all. thanks for posting kenny.

I was wondering what 'limited moderation' meant. I can send and receive pm's but I can't go into the chatroom as I'm forum access only.

wow, I've had practically all titles that are in this thread (apart from staff of course)
I've been a senior member, then under moderation, then banned, then under moderation, then limited moderation, then forum access only, and now I'm a senior member again.
I guess staff saw that my behaviour has improved an awful lot, after I went into therapy. :smile:

well dave, it's cause I have a really REALLY bad temper. and the staff
don't care about people insulting each other as long as we use nicey nice
goody two shoes words. if we use too much blue language, the staff
get all flustered and putting the person under moderation is the only
thing they seem to know how to do. anyway, you'd have to ask some
staff person why I am under moderation and then they would give you
some mealy mouthed reply like "it's not appropriate, this that and the other thing, blah blah blah" know what I mean? I'll bet you do :biggrin:

you are who you are and you know where you are with people like that.. personally i like your bluntness. its the ones who pretend to be nice and fluffy but in actuality are complete trolls that piss me off. they are dangerous in a forum like this.

these have all been very PG posts. not attacking anyone or ranting
or using bad words or anything. my mommy doesn't like when I use

I'm sorry I haven't been online 24/7 to approve your posts but I've been asleep. Yesterday i personally approved your posts within 15 minutes of you posting them, and today you've had to wait 3 hours. Sorry this is not good enough for you but it doesn't mean we're out to get you. And I have not approved 2 of your posts today where you are insulting people - calling a member thick is not what I consider 'not attacking people'. I actually don't want to see you banned, so please calm down before posting any more hate threads.

I've been where Clam is, it still just sucks. I know you guys aren't out to "get anyone" but I've also just been so hopeful (Still am) for that final ban.

Moderators should exercise their authority moderately. I think it's an important role on this particular forum.

i am going to ad my 2 cents to this thread. dont know how far it will get butttttt.

i personally think that the mods and admin do a great job of keeping this place safe and their members from being hurt by others remarks. i know moderation hurts as i was once put on it, and i was put on it immediately without any warning, which wasnt really all that good. i mean they could have told me i was going to be put on moderation but then again i should have read the rules first.

now with that being said how about putting in something like a little warning system that only the members can see themselves. in like 4 part increments that light up each time one does something wrong, when all 4 light up they go on moderation for a certain amount of time. this way with the warning system they will see where they are making mistakes and have a chance to change. like for example i have this little warning system under my name, i get upset and say a few cuss words, admin or mod puts me on a warning, one light lights up on my warning system. i can see it and be have. sort of make it be like in order for that one light to go off one would have to be have like maybe 7 days in a roll and then the light is removed or something like that.. like if they do something bad 2 times then 2 of their little lights would light up and they would know they are half way from being moderated?:blink: i mean this would give the members time to cool down and behave and the admin and mods time to not just automatically put us on mod preview and give us a chance to cool down cause we are all battleing something and having pain, sometimes that pain gets us into trouble, sometimes our anger gets us into trouble ( mine does lol )
