It's strange to think some will never really know how it was before social media and smartphones etc
Ofc, it will always be like that
But smartphones/social media was such a huge change to the world
There was internet before that, but I feel like it didn't really blow up completely untill smartphones and social media became mainstream
Before that, TV was probably the last big game changer
Yup, I think it was a big deal when VHS Tapes came out too. Because you didn't have to wait to go to the theaters to see a movie. Or watch them on TV (much more limited back then). I believe they were quite expensive, too, relative to how they've been ever since - when they first burst onto the scene. But I was too young, to know or remember for sure (if the sticker shock I was feeling, was real).

Oh yeah can imagine
I grew up with VHS, so something I took for granted

Plus I'm thinking back to then, or before when. If you'd wanted to see something again. You had to go & buy another ticket! ;)
And not too far into the future we will be able to type into a computer whatever type of movie we want to see, and boom ...
AI will produce it in a couple of seconds
AI is going to change the world once again
Already has, but still has long way to go, but it's developing so fast
So we're on the verge of another big world changing tech

Of course I do. There's always meaning behind everything. I'd been wishing I was born in the Victorian era because of the beautiful clothes and simpler times as far as the traditional roles for men and women go. But if I had all these mental illnesses back then, no doubt I'd end up in an asylum in which women weren't treated well at all. A mere bout of depression would have probably brought me to one of those. And that much, I'm certainly thankful for.
We romanticize days gone by, but why? In days prior to ours there was child labour (babes as young as five years were supporting their families working in coal mines, for example), women weren't considered persons but 100% dependant property of their husbands with no rights, there was no social safety net, no modern medical care, etc., etc. So, even though modern-day society is flawed, it's way better than any other time before us. My thoughts anyway.

I’m glad I read this today. I really like the perspective you have given.

I feel like I’m the “wrong” generation too, and have felt like this for as long as I can remember. I’m a millennial, born in ‘88. I always wished to be at least 10 years older. This is one thing that has always fueled my depression, and it bugs me so bad.

What you wrote makes me really question my perspective, and helps me zoom out to see things differently. I’ve need this, so thank you.
