There are now more chapters of my life that are forever closed than those waiting to be opened. I have never been able to find what I needed to be happy.

It might sound strange, but as an example, I found that creating physical space by getting rid of years and years of accumulated useless possessions, by itself made me feel lighter and freer mentally. Happiness isn't something we find 'outside' it's what remains when we get rid of things which are blocking us from feeling it. You start noticing things you didn't while your mind was focused on the things that burden you, and these can be a source of renewed joy.

I don't just mean possessions but I understand what you're saying. I've never found the mindset, the friends, the job, the relationship that I was happy in. I wonder if I'm just one of those people that's meant to be alone and unhappy?

Happiness never lasts very long when I did find it. I always felt as if I were constantly being punished for finding any happiness.

I remember a time of being happy when I was extremely young, but who wasn't happy when there was no pressure, no awareness of people's cruelty and no expectations? That's why I chose my screen name.
Yes. It's sad when you look at young children and see their innocence and sheer joy of just being alive, then think of what life might have in store for them. We need to be more compassionate in regards to our own hurts and disappointments because we were once that child, before the problems of living clouded our natural, spontaneous joy.

I know how you feel that more doors are closing the older we get. i'm 62 and disabled so most of my doors are closed. and as you know I have health/pain issues I also have financial issues so there is a lot of negative in my life. but I try to look at what I do have in life, my wife and kids etc. so I do have joy. and of course my 64 dodge brings me great joy. so does helping other people. I could list a long list of things that bring me joy, from very small to very large. you have to seek and cherish any joy that you can find. I hope your path can be a bright one filled with joy and wonder...mike...*hug*console

Yes they are gorgeous, the 58!
We had a '64 longbody when I was a kid. That's where the romance beganπŸ˜€

I would love to get a 59 or a 60 and put airbags on it. Not to make it a lowrider but just to give it some lift and drop when I want it.
