this isn't really a religous thread. basically if you believe in heaven or something similar or don't believe you can still participate if you believe or not. the question is most people believe you get what you want in heaven, what would your heaven experience be if you could choose.

i have already planned my heaven if possible. i want an invisable spaceship so i can explore the universe. 2 important things though. have a place friends and relative can come abourd to visit, with permisson. and a huge holodeck. it would be programmed with every car made until 1979 and a lot of lakes programmed for fishing with a variety of boats. also hunting programs, i don't hunt but i would if they weren't real. and if we still have a body and sex is allowed, well we won't go into details but i'd have many programs for that lol. what would your heaven be like

My heaven would have to include teddy bears. Including my favorite, Rudi. It would also have to include the beauty of nature. Oceans, rivers, trees, mountains and easily walkable trails around them. Friends and family would need to be there, including those who were non-believers. And, of course, Jesus. If we still needed to eat, we would have to eat anything and everything without gaining an ounce.

I usually get a bit too lost in one specific detail to really think about other aspects. My mum arrives, the first thing she encounters is me, having been trained and appointed to be her guide to the afterlife. Her Vergil if you will. In the daydream, she usually doesn't recognise me, because how could she, i was a 10 year old boy the last time she saw me.

I'm a comfortingly familiar face, but she can't place why, which makes me perfect for the role. We spend time together, i get to see what she was like as a person, absent the context of behaving like my mum. And i get a chance to make her feel safe and happy. And she gets an insight into who her son grew up to be without even realising it at first. Which i would hope makes the point she finds out what happened to me easier to swallow.

I suppose that's what heaven is to me. It's being given chances to make things right in ways that you could never get on this plane. Everything else i could plan sounds great and all, but it's not my focus. Besides, i had a dream a while back that bordered on divine intervention, that primarily made me realise no material joys the afterlife could offer would truly satisfy me, my needs are more spiritual in nature.

i have a great idea. if we both go to heaven hopefully you can take your favorite teddy with you, i'll take barb with me when i go, and as long as yours is a male teddy we can get them together and have little teddys lol

Ok from a serious standpoint, my personal belief system holds that we are already in the physical location of the “pure land,” which is more technical than I can explain right now, but it is a place of utter bliss and joy, with the external world conspiring to give you all you need with no struggle, ultimately leading you on a straight line to enlightenment (where enlightenment is defined as being beyond suffering and its causes).

Not everyone has to subscribe to this idea, though. I do find it useful to me, because it helps me focus on doing the work now and here, because the end of suffering is actually attainable.

The takeaway is that heaven has more to do with one’s state of mind than with their location in time and space, or celestial status, or what-have-you. We are already there but we put up boundaries over and over again because we are confused about the causes of suffering.
——-

Less seriously, though, my personal heaven would be a paradise of amazing sensory experiences that I could have just by imagining them.

So I could taste the best food and coffee, listen to the most dynamic symphonies, cuddles and touch and sex with safe people, beautiful artwork and scenery (including hiking lol), and above all, intellectual stimulation that makes Einstein’s papers look like Thomas the Train Engine books. I would be able to understand the math, too. The last thing would be 12 labradoodle puppies to shower me with puppy affection every day.

Is that too much to ask?

:D

I'm not sure how I want to describe it, but with the exception of Reality's post, all of these are delightfully copacetic with my sense of the desires and fulfillments of the afterlife. Maybe I will come back and write about it later. Nice thread.

It's alright @Reality. I think we've all made at least one post where we lost track of the scope and tone of the thread. Sometimes our minds run away with our train of thought. It's especially understandable if you're that sleep deprived, cos it's just impressive you're even that coherent. *hug10
i agree no big deal. i probably should have explained it better. i love the answers so far

i would love a large self cleaning house in space somewhere close to Uranus. It must have a self cleaning pool, hot tub lit from underneith the water, and a jetted tub. As well as a giant room with an endless supply of every art supplies and craft supplies pre organized. Also a giant kitchen, pantry, and bbq so i can cook n bake for anyone n everyone who wants to eat. There would be a couple of large mountains and an ocean on my property as well. And absolutely no light pollution so i can see the amazing galaxy!
