i want to express my feelings about politics in entertainment and this seemed like the appropriate place to do it.

I hate when people feel they need to put politics in my entertainment. Part of the reason I turn on a movie or a TV show is to escape that stuff for a while and not think about it. It really does not matter whether or not I agree with what the movie or TV show is saying. I just do not want to think about that stuff. A few months ago my dad and I went to see the movie Mickey 17. The only reason I wanted to see it is because it's directed by Bong Joon Ho and he is my second favorite director. (Martin Scorsese is the first if you're curious.) The villain in the movie is a politician who has strong ties with this church and his followers wear red hats. It is very obvious what this movie is about. I did not enjoy that movie at all. This is also the reason that I stopped watching South Park about ten years ago. For some reason that show all of a sudden became literally about nothing but politics. I do not want to watch that show. When I turn on South Park I want to watch a show about these kids just being kids and funny stuff happens. I am willing to revisit the first maybe ten seasons of the show. I might do that one day. And I read that season 16 is pretty much when all this started. I am never going to watch an episode from season 16 and after.

Does anybody else feel this way?

I do.
Politics is so divisive and I respect whatever side people choose, but when I go to a movie, watch a show or on the very rare occasion I go to a concert it’s the last thing I want to see or hear about. I want to be entertained, not preached at about one side or the other.

I stopped watching the news almost a year ago. And I was an avid viewer. I agree with entertainment being completely separate from anything but a casual reference to politics if it fits in the program or movie.

Thankfully I was never an avid news watcher. I did at some point realize that I have no reason to watch it. If something extremely important happens I will probably learn about it from others. And everything else I really just don't need to know about. There's this website where I read jokes. They're really funny. Someone posted a joke about Elon. I thought to myself "I do not get this joke and I do not want to get this joke."

*hi5much more at peace since I stopped the whole media/news game following. Even the few legit radio/tv presentations like NPR etc. Except for Bill Maher since he usually puts a comedic spin on things and stays fairly lighthearted even though he is serious about things he thinks.

People who create entertainment don't do it for free. And your viewing fee is not their main source of income, strange as it may sound.
Their main source of income is hidden advertising in films. They are paid by cigarette and alcohol manufacturers. They are paid by car and gadget manufacturers. They are paid by politicians.
This is one of the tools for controlling society that psychopaths have put into practice.
