ICE raids.

Already two people I’ve known have been detained by ICE until their citizenship was proven. They raided a community meeting at the park I‘ve mentioned going to with Jessica. These are not targeted raids, going after known undocumented people. They are arresting any brown person at the events they raid, and are harassing any who oppose them. I’m afraid for my family, even though everybody is legal. Myself and my mother ought to be fine, since we’re light-skinned, but my sisters and nieces and nephews aren’t and I’m not sure all of the latter will recognize the seriousness of the situation, and might mouth off to the wrong person.

Protests are ongoing. Our coward mayor declared a curfew.

This spooked me. This is more like nazi Germany than the country I love.

The least I can say is that politics change fast. Here in my country power changed really fast between one side of the spectrum through the other.

Authoritarian governments are usually dumb and weak and they fall by their own designs when the people actually resist them.

America is a great country and american people are way more able to resist oppression than most countries out there.

I've been following what's been going on from "over the pond." This is just the latest in a line of worrying developments. This seems to be the groundwork being laid for the development of a police state. Once put in place, then there'll be full blown authoritarian rule.

The narrative from those in the White House (better of calling it Shite House) have been throwing around phrases like "insurrection" "rebellion" "invasion." This is like the start of a dictatorship trying to instigate martial law. This is just fucked man.

California has spoken, Los Angeles has spoken; we don’t want the gestapo here. The vast majority of those protesting are legal. The majority of those not protesting support the protestors.

The only invasion is coming from the federal government, from the party that claims states rights are paramount, no less. Where’s California’s rights? Or does that only apply if they want to own people?

From the outside, the whole country is barelling into a facist police state. Fucking mess.
