Ptsd makes it hard to relax

Hi everyone.
Does anyone know how to relax with ptsd? My body always feels on edge. My fiancé was caressing my back last night, which felt nice and I felt almost relaxed. I just want a little reprieve.

I'm sorry that you're having trouble relaxing.

The acupressure self-massage and meditation sections of the link below (to a page on SF) might help:

Self-Treatment and Miscellaneous

Acupuncture might help. This link (also to a page on SF) has some info:

Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture, World's Second Largest Medical System

I think it's been claimed that EMDR or CBT therapy can be helpful with PTSD, but this can be expensive unless it's covered by insurance.

In principle a massage therapy could help, but you'd have to be comfortable with the one giving the massage. Professional massage can also be expensive. Sometimes massage schools will offer a discount rate for massages.

There may be a simple massage technique that your fiancé may be able to perform for you.

1 Lie down on your stomach on the floor with your fiancé kneeling by your side

2 She can then place both hands on your back and gently rock you back and forth

3 After this, she could then "walk" her hands around your body

I hope something can help.
