all the evil greedy and violent people in the world get most of the attention from the media and in person. most people who do good things on this planet are overlooked. i'm talking about any acts of kindness including giving a homeless person a sandwich to rich people giving huge amounts of money and people that help others from just listening to giving rides for the elderly or anything else that is an act of kindness. so please post your story of kind acts so we can all see the wonderful acts of kindness in this world, please keep this thread positive and uplifting. and obviously don't use any full names

i have a lot of stories but i'll start the thread.

i am 67 and a few years ago i ran into a serious problem which affected my health and could have died. i was on a Medicare advantage plan and because of my expensive meds i fell into a donut hole. this meant instead of paying $50 to $100 a month i had to come up with 3 grand for my meds every month. i didn't even clear 3k.

my doctors nurse was like a case worker. she found out i was off my insulin for 3 weeks and my glucose #s were in the high 400s and sometimes in the 500s, of course she was concerned i could end up in a coma. she found something i could use temporarily.

then she called legal services for the elderly , a person that works to make sure people can afford meds. she found a way to get both my wife and i " special help ". what she did was start with me then later switched so my wife was on instead of me. since the med prices are good for a year so switching kept meds affordable for both of us.

the extra help besides saving on meds helped with co-pays as well. it also removed the part b premium which is now $174 a moth for one of us. well we got a call from dhs last week that we are both eligible for the extra help. that means an extra $174 a month which will help a lot. so everyone involved was beyond kind and without them i'd be screwed. there are good people on this planet

as most people know one of my dogs passed away about a month ago. to say we were distraught is an understatement. we told our son that he passed away during the night and he helped us to find a decent way to put him to rest. they were very kind.

they came to our house and carefully put buddy in a basket and wrapped him in a blanket, they treated him with more respect than some places do with a human body. they consoled us and stayed long enough to make sure that we were ok, they also left a pamphlet to help with our grief and to watch for signs that our other pets are grieving, especially maggie his sister. the whole thing is only $140 for pickup, cremation and ashes spread over the pet cemetary. they are good people on this planet

I'm glad that the nurse and the people who took Buddy were so kind.

My inspiring story is about a guy named Mike who is always posting kind things for people on a site called Suicide Forum :)
That is a fine example. For Mike and so many other folks here who join in when people are distressed and need somebody about for me even when online. Whether it is comforting words or in a lot of cases advice that may be of help and aid for others.

Good thread
You are correct
But I think one big component of those acts being sincere is that they often go unnoticed to the rest of the world
If you have to have a camera filming your good deeds for social media etc, the motive is probably more about your own self interest
Thankfully lots of good deeds happen every day, even anything as small as giving a smile and a "hello" to someone
Social media and the news can give a very warped perception of reality
