Good things about living in today's world

I want to start a thread where we can share various good things about living in today's world instead of the negative things that people tend to focus on. Here's where I'll start:

Access to information and entertainment is better than it has ever been.

The internet provides instant access to knowledge, news, and a plethora of entertainment options.

Streaming services, online libraries, and educational platforms offer vast amounts of content.

Constant updates and information make it easier to stay informed about our favorite subjects.

Living in Europe during the black death, or during WWII probably would have been way rougher. The conditions of early humans were probably pretty rough too.

I have clean food and water to consume, and I have as much of it as I need. I have clear air to breathe. I am not surrounded by toxic waste. No one is dropping bombs on my head and I don't live in constant fear of violence. I'm usually able to sleep as much as I need to. I have clothes on my back and roof over my head. I'm able to connect in a meaningful way with other people via the internet and SF. There are other things I have to be grateful for that I either haven't mentioned or that I'm not even aware of.

In many places and at many times in history people have not had these things. These are things to be grateful for.

There's an app for everything: Too lazy to cook? Uber Eats? Too lazy to run errands? There's an app for that, I'm pretty sure you can Uber your groceries too. Too lazy to clean your house? Well, in where I live there's an app for that, and I'm sure you have it too in countries like the US or UK.

Increased exposure to different cultures and perspectives can broaden our understanding of the world

I also wanted to add that other than making my life more convenient, these apps mean that there are more job opportunities for people, so that's a good thing

I’m lucky to be living in a country and time in history that women can be independent and have a voice. Not too many countries have such freedoms even now. I would have been a teacher if I was born 20 years younger. Not an engineer. I would be shunned for my divorce before the sixties and now I can have my own credit card. I recognize that we have further to go but I am lucky.

When I was a kid if I wanted to listen to an album I had to buy the CD. Today I can put all my favorite albums on YouTube Music. Then I can open the YouTube app on firestick, go down to "Music" and click "Albums" on the top of the screen. All my favorite albums will be right there. I never have to take time to switch the bluetooth setting of my headphone over to my laptop to listen to music. In fact there's really no reason to listen to music on a computer at all. As much as I love the sound of vinyl, it's so much easier to just click on an album. And the sound quality is pretty good just not exactly as warm.

Also to mention I can click on the "eye" icon and click "lyrics" and the lyrics will appear on the TV as the music is playing.

I agree with the comments about the conveniences and comforts we have. I guess it is dual edged in that when something goes out it is tougher at times because we become more dependent on things being at our fingertips.

And all the conveniences make everything more expensive and many of them leave us more vulnerable to the criminal element.
