Hello and happy Sunday.

I thought I'd open the Cafe today, of which I hope that is okay, otherwise it's more of a break in.

I have always wondered with all the members on the site, what array of talents there must be.
So, today's question is:

What talent do you have, this could be a skill or maybe a party trick?

If you could learn any talent or skill, what would it be?

My answers are, I have a good talent to be able to put my hand to most things, or if not I can learn pretty well. I have in the past made quite of bit of furniture and a musical instrument.

If I could learn a talent or skill, it would have to be playing a musical instrument!, which I cant do very well. I always wanted to be able to speak different languages as well.

My talent is over eating all the wrong foods and destroying my health.
If I could add talents it would be to resume playing classical guitar and get good at it; to learn to speak German in a much better way than I did in my youth; and to make really fine teddy bears.

Thanks to @Inastorm for opening and tagging me.
Seriously, good on you opening a cafe, i know it can be scary. *hug

Arguing a point. Benefit of being the daughter of a very talented university professor i guess. Presenting ideas to my dad was always like playing a game of chess with a grand master. I always had to show my work, so i kind of mastered presenting cogent logical ideas. Now it's pretty hard to get the better of me in an argument.

Not that i'm saying i'm against changing my mind. When the facts and reasoning presented to me make sense, i'll back down and change my stance. But it's pretty rare for people to outright stump me when i'm ready to stand my ground on something,

If you could learn any talent or skill, what would it be?
Similarly to you Storm, i'd probably either learn an instrument or learn to sing. Or actually, along those tracks, i'll settle for learning how to change my voice to a more feminine one, which i'm planning to train in at some point.

That's a fun question and a really positive one, get's me to remembering that I am good and sometimes more than that with a big bunch of things. Thanks for the tag..and mostly for the internal lift from it as I starting thinking about it.

I am good at writing, I think, to some extent, and working with information but it's not much of a party trick. I am good at teaching myself stuff like writing HTML or how to use software. And I am a very good listener, people would say.

I am not very good at practical things, I would love to be able to put furniture together or fix practical stuff but I can't even change a plug. Fortunately everything comes with its own plug now. Funny how I taught myself how to build websites enough that people used to pay me for it, but give me a flatpack assembly thing and a diagram, and I will have a breakdown 😂

I am a classically trained organist and vocalist. And I played in bands for years as well. I have a talent for delivering babies and taking care of critically ill humans. I wish I knew much more about the plants kingdom and about our waters on earth especially my local ones and I’m trying to ramp up my knowledge and awareness in those areas learning from the group I’m affiliated with and other sources. I also desire to be a much better healer. And wish I could bake better cakes, like Duff

I'm a good writer. I've published novels and had a play performed on a professional stage.

I'm good at baking and cooking.

When I was a kid I was a promising artist too - well, more of a draughtsman really; i never had any colour sense - but I let that fall by the wayside. I'd love to have that skill now. In particular, I wish I was skilled at making black and white, pen and ink illustrations.

The only thing I got a little praise for in school, was music class. I have no idea why I picked up a trombone other than everything looked confusing and I couldn't make a flute make any noise. I liked that I was sitting near the two guys I liked playing the tuba.

My mom got me an organ, I wanted a piano. I did get music lessons from the church organist so I don't think I just had talent. It was too nerve wracking to play but I did a few times in church.

I have a talent of making a huge mess everywhere I go, and lately, apparently, scaring the bejeesus out of my friend.

I love someone here that knows organ!! Even though you wanted a piano.....I hope whatever you think you were doing to scare the beejeesus out of your friend is over and done with and forgiven and forgotten and no longer occurring.

I can say the alphabet backwards faster than most people can say it forwards.

Also, I am good at music, languages, and math. I think they are all languages. Words represent imagery and instructions. Math represents imagery and relationships, and music represents the sublime, true story of the human experience that cannot be captured in words alone. When it’s done well, that is. Not just Beethoven and Bach, but I would also count more guitar and pop music in there, too. Johnny Cash comes to mind, and I am sure there are others, but it will be different to different people. I’m also apparently good at philosophy, lol.

One thing I would like to be better at is meeting people where they are, rather than coming from where I am. I base my decisions on logic and observations, but others are persuaded by appeals to emotion, others by authority, and still others by different things too many to list. Not to mention combinations of all the above.

There are legends of great spiritual masters who could achieve this, but they seem to only come along every 800 years or so.

I think that talent is what we make of it. Some are born prodigies, which I am guessing is a form of neurodivergence that we cannot understand. The rest of us have to practice, practice, practice, and have the luck to have good teachers.

I think you’re not giving yourself enough credit, though. The organ, especially one of the giant church organs, is often ranked as the most difficult instrument to learn. It requires the player to use all four limbs in coordination, and very few can do this.

I would like to think my talent is an attribute - i am creative and love to make decent things - sewing when I was young and presently wood working. I make different things - never more than 5 items of the same kind and my mind is off dreaming up the next craft. I'm good with Adobe and have a lot of fun creating pictures.

The only talent I would want is to sing passably. I love to sing but the sound of my voice makes me cringe. A singing teacher once told me if I learned to sing my voice would change. Now I don't have the time but when I have the time I probably won't have $$.
