Sacrifice of Loving Husband

This is a really nice video, which shows the husbands hard work to support his wife.

However, and I hope I explain myself clearly, I think these situations need to be viewed with an element of caution. I find them quite judgemental and sometimes can be demeaning to the subjects situation/ position. I'm not sure I would view this as a sacrifice, as it could imply she isn't worth it because she's paralyzed and not able to contribute. People support other people all the time, parents support their children, children support their parents and husband and wife's support each other. I understand this isn't always the case but I work in healthcare and I see these kinds of supporting relationships all the time. I think it can be dangerous as it's natural to start comparing these kinds of supporting situations, such as the video against other less extreme but equally important supporting situations.

I think when it's called a sacrifice, the relationship becomes hierarchical and not equal. This would open up a whole debate over what makes an equal relationship, but I see it more as a mindset and position, rather than contributions.

There are a lot of like minded videos online that I've seen which I find quite upsetting at times. There's a lot of video's where you'll have a homeless person playing a piano or guitar and its like wow, he/ she can play such nice music, but their homeless!, that's amazing! There is one called 'homeless man plays street piano beautifully in Florida', that has 18 million views. Lets have a video called 'man who lives in house plays piano beautifully in Florida' and see how many views it gets. The fact that someone is homed or homeless has nothing to do with playing the piano.

Sorry to put a downer on the video, it is really nice, but I feel sometimes they can also promote comparisons, which can be quite dangerous.

If anyone disagrees or has anything to add, I'd be interested in hearing opinions.
