Trying to lose weight while on Seroquel

Literally, the first drug that comes to mind that I was probably least inclined to ever take for my mental health is Seroquel. And that's because I've heard horror stories about how people have gained 100+ lbs on it. Regardless of that, however, it's also the one drug that seems to be helping me function normally. Without it, I have severe auditory hallucinations and can barely function. This being the case, it seems Seroquel is currently my best option. Other antipsychotics that I've tried (Risperdal, perphenazine, ability, and latuda) haven't worked very well for me. Thank God, Seroquel seems to work wonders.

As far as weight, I don't need to lose much. I'm 5'3, 134lb. My BMI is 23.7 and overweight is considered 25.0 and above. Nevertheless, I feel as though I'm a little too close for comfort to being overweight and I'd feel a lot more comfortable with myself at perhaps around 120lbs, so that's my weight goal. Unfortunately, I have a pretty sedentary lifestyle, so most of my weight loss is going to come from dieting/fasting. I've also found this to be the easiest way from past experience (for me, at least). Although, it wouldn't hurt to work out a little either, I suppose, so I'm going to combine that with an hour daily on the treadmill. Strength training exercises would probably help as well, but I have issues staying committed to it. It seems I can commit to walking a lot more easily.

I just ate (a slice of white bread and a piece of swai fish cooked with only salt and black pepper, no butter) and I'm still hungry. And now I'm fasting for the next 18-24 hours. God, help me. I just want to feel confident, healthy, and content with my body. Hopefully, my metabolism isn't going to work against me on this.

It's possible to be on these drugs and lose weight. You have to make exercise part of your daily schedule. I have lost 20kg on Clozapine. It can be done.
Out of curiosity, is Clozapine the first drug they put you on or have you also tried others that didn't work for you?

Ive been on it too
It made my mouth super dry.
Had to stop taking it
My mouth was like a desert
Had to get quite a bit of dental work done after taking them for a while

Huh. I actually had dry mouth recently also. I thought maybe I was just dehydrated, but good to know that's also a possibility.

If you take them before bed, make sure to try at daytime too. Just to see if you have same side effect. Because harder to notice when you sleep. And it can really mess up your teeth.
If its an issue for you, theres some pink pills I got to help with dry mouth. But sadly didnt work on me.
I cant remember the name.
Maybe it will for you though, if this becomes an issue for you
Lets hope not

I actually have to take them twice a day, because like I said, my hallucinations became pretty severe. I was put on 200mg in the morning and 200 again in the evening, so I have to take them every 12 hours. Thankfully, it doesn't seem like it's an ongoing problem. I started drinking more and it seems to have helped. If it happens again, though, I'll keep in mind that it could also be the Seroquel. What pills were you given for dry mouth if I may ask? And I'm sorry that it affected your teeth like that. My teeth were absolutely destroyed once I started taking methadone back in 2015. But I have dentures now and I'm off all the opioids.

I'm sure the people who help you with your medicine will know. But hopefully wont be necessary

I tried several (including Seroquel), but nothing worked. I'm still experiencing auditory hallucinations all day on Clozapine, but I'm more stable overall.

I'm sorry you're still experiencing these symptoms. I experience a few auditory hallucinations still as well, but strangely enough, I realized that they were actually triggered by nicotine because when I didn't have any nicotine for 4-5 days, suddenly they stopped. I'd quit the nicotine, but I kept gaining weight when I tried the last time. I was hungry all day non-stop, and developed an oral fixation from the nicotine, which certainly wasn't helping matters. But yeah, I can still function pretty well also now, thank God.

I have included power seeds to my diet - chia, flax, and hulled hemp. BetterBody has a nice inexpensive blend.

The chia seed adds fiber and satiety . These seeds are flavorless so it doesn’t alter the taste if you add them to your meals.

Try healthier snacks when you get the munchies from Seroquel💊🫣. Carrots celery peanut butter. Pay attention to minimize intake of foods with high sodium and refined sugar.

I wish you the best in your journey. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

The struggle is real! I also gained a lot of weight from seroquel. I have lost it since. It worked amazing for my depression, but I was sleeping 14 hours a night every night, and that was on only 150 mg. It also stopped working, which I was okay with because I was hungry way too much for my activity level.

Yeah, I'm literally hungry almost all day long no matter what I eat. I've learned to basically ignore it and I tell myself I'm not actually hungry, it just feels that way.

I never got over it. Today I would probably use a meal plan and a grocery deliver service if I could afford it. I should do that now, for what that's worth. For me it was very much like cannabis influence, except not with the goofy, "everything is hilarious" feeling. The hunger and sedation were familiar sensations though. You have my respect for being able to ignore it. That is a good skill; I have not even been able to make intermittent fasting work; even at the 12 hr fast per day level.

Unrelated but I just noticed your tagline, and I love it!
