Strange habit of humans, and I use the word strange to avoid a lot of negative descriptors, to invent and myopically dress up with their own attributes a special creature who's focused on us special humans and intending to spread evil and harm. We assume we are the be-all and end-all of creation. That the planet, its oceans and waters, fish, trees, plants, rocks, animals, amoeba, birds, microbes and all the rest are just side bits, disconnected from but available for usage.

from Cultures of Violence, by A.L. Porterfield, 1965:
"...love and hate cannot be locked up insie one's skin in a vacuum, .... They require somebody else as a reference even when they are directed toward oneself: the very existence of somebody else always involves society. Now a society that multiplies goals that are hard to achieve by most of its people, emphasises that one must have them to be anybody at all, and indoctrinates the greatest number of people withb sentiments attached to these values in the intereset of the marketplace, is multiplying the wants of its people instead of setting limits to such wants: but it cannot increase the means of attainment for everybody so influenced. As a consequence, people run as fast as they can, not to find that they are advancing, but rather they are falling behind."

please go make me some more sparkly wine! ;)
I am too lazy to make Rosé bro.
I’ve got some prison hooch, but not much else. I learned how to make it in, well, prison and I was there for so long I got used to it.

Probably going to make some moonshine later with this rye I have lying around. It seems to have some sort of fungus* on it, but what is the worst that could happen?

* (The discovery of LSD happened when a chemistry scientist was messing around with ergot, a fungus that attacks rye grain.)

It's a misconception. But people like it. Does it give people some sense of power?

And we always resort to death at the end....
To be more competitive in this race for life, we kill ourselves faster with extraneous substances such as alcohol, coffee and other drugs.
And we also pollute the environment, explaining it with progress and the race for life.
You used the word strange. That's putting it mildly.
Sometimes I want to find love for someone, but the people around me are quite pragmatic and often take advantage of that desire of mine. And now I'm contemplating maybe retiring to some Tibetan monastery....
I guess this capitalist life isn't for me.

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan[a] also came among them. 7 The Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” 8 And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?” 9 Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? 10 Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” 12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.”

It’s not for anyone really imo. I think it encourages far too many unnatural beliefs and actions. The sooner it can be gone and replaced with a better, more efficient system, the better.

Thinking of what that “better system” needs to be is of course the real challenge with that, but I absolutely believe it can be done. The majority need to just start using (and recognizing!) their power to influence positive change in this world :)

It seems that many people want change, but no one believes that it can be achieved. I realized this from this discussion.

There is a lot of truth to that. Especially on what to do. Capitalism at its core is taking care of yourself and yours, those things and people important to a person. If you aren't doing that for yourself whether physical, mental or financial you will never be able to do much for others. Good philosophical question on where, when and how you do to aid another? Always take and make time for what you want and do as you can as you decide what and when.
