I know my posts are often poorly written

#1
It frustrates me. Problems with verb agreement, basic misspellings, etc. By the time I see the problems, the edit window is usually closed. I'm sure there are other errors I'm not even aware of.

If I put enough effort in, I'm sure I'd have fewer errors. On the other hand, I'd probably also have 22,000 posts instead of 25,176. I think I have my priorities straight.

Unless a policy change is made with regard to the editing window, I must rely on the good graces of my readers.

I hope it's okay to respond @may71. I very much value your writings here. I wrote on your profile once about that, if I remember right. : ) On SF I see errors in writing as not as important as the intent of people's posts. Often, when I go back and read what I've written, I cringe at my errors.

Same same here. I have never really seen any kind of mispell error in your writings and sharings, it's not something I'd focus on anyway and I agree that it's frustrating for me as well but it's irrelevant. Your content, responses and all that that means is what I like, relate to and enjoy. And have always been grateful for.
And it would be nice if the editing time would be expanded....

I have not noticed any errors @may71 - but I do regret that edit window as I'm always noticing typos in my own hastily typed messages and wondering what short circuit my brain was experiencing at the time. I think I wrote "the the the" in one sentence a while ago. I think we all know that typos and errors are normal. And it's a law of the universe that you only see and realise errors once you've submitted and the edit window has closed/you sent the email etc

So very well said all of you! i happen to agree with everyone that has posted so far. What is said by you is loads more important than proper grammar. In fact for me, i never have seen mistakes, or if i have, they never registered because i was too focused on what was being said.

Your words touch so very many people! Dont worry about the spellings, or grammar, or punctuation. As long as "let's go feed the dog, grandma" is correct... no one will be concerned. *hehe*

Dont be so critical of yourself n show yourself some grace. i cant think of anyone here who deserves it more....

Or less for that matter!

Well done. Point made. And easy to read as well:)

Punctuation matters a bit more in a longer post, with more sentences and thoughts to get across. The only post which has a bad impact on me is the wall of text. It's a strain, and my eyes and brain tend stop focusing on the screen when attempting to read that sort of post. But @may71 you don't have to worry about all this unless you feel it's important.

I'm curious to know if these tendencies surface in other areas of your life?

Not really. I'll have an occasional memory lapse, but nothing beyond what people normally experience.

I'm perhaps excessively charitably ascribing the errors to the volume of posts I make, the brevity of the edit window, and occasionally fatigue. In other words I'm claiming I'm actually capable of writing reasonably well when circumstances don't conspire against me.

Do you have any perfectionist tendencies of any kind?

Anyways I'm sorry to pry, lol.
