Tariffs

Things are certainly getting interesting. Personally, I would prefer a bit more boredom. But I don't think these tariffs are a good thing. They are going to slam people who are already struggling to buy what they need. US will get hit very hard on produce prices. And you can't really stock up on them.

Countries are also starting to boycut US products.
Some places US products now have a special label, so people can easily avoid them
Yeah this is going to backfire

And I heard a rumor that Canada may cut the electricity they are sending to the US. It would hit states like NY, Michigan and Minnesota. But I expect tariffs will go on and on as it would be damaging to one's pride to cave in.

People voted for Trump and are still happy about it. I am nervous about it as my job is not going so well and I could be forced into retirement early this year. I’m not ready financially to be retired. And too old to have to look for another job. Tariffs and ever increasing prices are scaring me.

Tariiffs is just a tool used by Trump in an attempt to excercise coercive control over whatever country that he wishes to target. One of his main go-to methods of trying to bring them to heel or in line with what he wants.

A simplistic approach based on hard-nosed hostile business practices. But then, bully-boy tactics and a quid-pro-quo way of thinking is obviously what he goes by, shitting all forms of political diplomacy straight out the window.

Yeah, it's the citizens within the US who are going to get hit hard by the fallout. Recently Trump admitted as such even though previously he claimed people within the US would be benfiting from these Tariffs.

Thing with Trump, he doesn't give a shite if people are hurting. That's just not on his radar. It's all about him, his ego and his showmanship.

I just emailed Trump and shared my concerns about the tariffs and how they are going to destroy the lives of the poor. Without doubt, he will read my email and have a total reversal of his thoughts on the issue. Oh yeah, world peace is going to break out tomorrow, all mental illness is going to be eliminated and love and goodness is going to saturate the world. *rofl

I have been reading a newsletter from an independent (aka not for profit) journalist organization. I read an interesting deep dive into his justifications for the tariffs, and they can’t all be true at the same time. I am afraid that he really has no interest in governance; his behavior shows that he is not doing it. Many of us in the US will suffer the backlash, probably for a decade at least,
