Chat Topic Nights

Hey all,

We are looking at reintroducing Topic Nights in chat. For those who don’t know, we chat about a chosen topic and give advice, listen and support members on the chosen topic. I will need some suggestions on what topics you’d like to talk about. We then put it to a vote and the topic with the most votes will be the chosen topic.

We would be looking to start the topic night on 9th August at 9pm GMT.

Fire away I look forward to seeing your suggestions.

we could do nights for different disorders. like a bpd night.

I like this idea. I'm not on chat. I think I'd you have like a note on top also when people sign into chat. I wonder how complicated it'd be for it to say 'tonight's topic from 9pm EST is: '

Do you want them to be recovery focused or sharing focused.

Like it could be things like - how I feel about myself vs how I'm working on loving / accepting myself.

Keep it open-door, so that nobody has to get a 'tag' to join?

focus on or at least towards recovery and maintenance of health.

Kind of goes without saying, but participating and being allowed to join in no matter who we are helps if for no other reason than feeling as though one is welcomed and not alone.

In the past we have created an extra room for topic nights and close it once it’s over.

I like @seabird suggestion about maintenance of health. It could be either mental or physical. Like meditation, exercise and diet.

Any other suggestions?

ways to save money

I love this idea. The topic that I would like to see is acceptance/ forgiveness. I mean, how to come to peace with things that are not right, and outside of our power to even improve.

Of course, that’s just me and I could stand to get better at reading the proverbial room. One thing I see often in forum posts is a sense of complete and permanent helplessness. I can relate. I also think that we are not helpless in every situation, if we are creative. I realize that this paragraph would seem to oppose the whole meaning of the prior one. That’s kind of how life is, for me at least. A paradoxical union of opposites that has to be studied to understand.

I like the topic about asking, receiving, & accepting support/help. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say it's nearly impossible to do that for all kinds of reasons.
