Hello! I made a thread so we can share our healthy cooking ideas. What food do you eat when you have no appetite? When you’re sick, stress or depress? What is your best comfort food? Whats your relationship with food like? Because I believe if we’re in an environment where we’re surrounded with something to crank up the hype, we can improve it so I hope we can keep sharing ideas of what we’re eating or tried healthy eating to improve appetite functions and get excited with meal planning for more variety. Just to make bit different than other common threads.

When I’m bored with colours, I like to wonder around at the kitchen, look at the ingredients and youtube how to cook it from whatever there is inside the kitchen. While in recovery with my eating disorder, I’ve learned that I love to have soups, soft foods, fruits and yogurt as comfort foods preferences before I can normalise back my eating pattern... I’ve just been thinking a lot about food, I loves making breakfast and side dishes, beginning with the basics.

... and this is my meal plan for next week 😺

I am a mix of healthy and unhealthy depending on the day, but those are some fine choices. I go between fried and greasy to grilled and more healthy. Most of what I cook and eat is heavy on the meat and potatoes for unhealthy and then on more vegetables for healthier. I actually enjoy both quite a bit.

Its great to enjoy both, this is why I say we need variety of everything, as long as we know portion control. Its best to be mindful eating where we eat all balanced nutrient food together. Don’t feel guilty about not eating, about binging or eating junk foods. We deserve to enjoy all types of food, don’t miss out on life. I’m quite proud of you. *hug

The dichotomy is a good thing, excluding both or either, the good or bad is not a thing to do. The good and better food, healthier but, you can and many do crave otherwise, indulge yourself, treat yourself otherwise you are apt to drive yourself nuts wanting something and then when getting it binge and overindulge.

My relationship with food is horrible. Always has been. Hardly a veggie that I like. Hardly anything unhealthy I don't like. Favorite food groups pizza, Pepsi and salt (not so much anymore). Am definitely paying the price with my health. I get mad at myself now. Buy something horrid, eat part of it, get angry, throw the rest away. Expensive habit.

I can't find the original recipe online anymore, but this is how it went, just without the specifics:
Peanut butter protein shake:
A few tablespoons of peanut butter, a few eggs, a banana or two, a scoop of protein powder, and a glass of milk.
Just please check the ingredients in your protein powder before making this so you know you're drinking something healthy.
I've made this a few times myself, and it's delicious.
Play around with the quantity of the ingredients to find out what works best for you in regard to taste, thickness, and nutritional value.

Food was never important to me. I cannot understand, how someone can eat in a fancy restaurant, spend a shitload of money... just to discuss or socialize. For the moment, I do not eat at all - like I do every year once or twice for 3 months (90-100 days) I just drink fresh fruit or vegetable juice, lots of water and tea... ah, and a coffee in the morning. It means that (if you drink more than 5 liters water per day) you feel slowly fitter and better. I have no sugar in the house (only honey for the tea) but salt (but a good one). During these periods I do a lot of sport (walk, gym) and lose a lot of weight (although I do not need to). My BMI is normal, after these three months it's underweight. But if I see the difference of 10 or more KG, I always imagine 2 weights of each 5 KG in the gym, which I normally carry all day long. I use a step counter - and it's around 15.000 - 20.000 steps/day (now its winter and I cannot do it every day, depends on weather).

When I eat, it's a salad mixed with fruits and cheese or nuts. I like spicy food. Thai noodles or Thai green curry. But - as my origin is German - I like this one best:

But modify it the Spanish way -> add Chorizo and add Africa -> African cayenne... And, to be honest once or twice a year (when I have to fly) I eat a nice Big Mac at McDonalds at the airport - and feel well.

I really like your selection of recipes, HappyKitty! These are some meals I would enjoy eating. As for me, in recent years I have learned to eat relatively well and healthy. I eat a bit of everything, but often vegetarian or vegan meals and I am enjoying them more and more. I used to eat a lot of meat in the past, but have reduced it a lot for health and ethical/environmental reasons. One of my favourite easy meals is just to chop a variety of different vegetables and bake them in the oven with feta or haloumi cheese on top. A good combination is for example sweet potato or pumpkin+beetroot+celery (especially in autumn/winter), peppers+zucchini, brussels sprouts +potatoes+carrots, asparagus+peppers. Adding some spices also makes it more tasty.
However, I have a sweet tooth and quite often fall for some unhealthy dessert, I also like good icecream.😉 Sometimes I try to bake something myself but don't have enough time for that usually.
