Sleeping troubles...

I have been having trouble sleeping for several weeks now. My girlfriend mentioned that I've started snoring, although I wasn't aware of it before, as I used to be a very quiet sleeper.
Additionally, I've been waking up with back pain, which I believe stems from a sports injury I sustained while bowling. Unfortunately, the pain persists because I sleep on my side with my arms under my head, and changing this long-standing sleeping habit seems difficult.
As a result, I frequently wake up with numb hands.

Do you have any ideas or helpful experiences ?

Hi MR,
difficulty sleeping sucks! Perhaps the addition of pillows could help. If you put a pillow under your knees, that will take strain off of your low back. if you lay on your side, place a small pillow between your knees, that also takes pressure off your low back.
could the numbness in your hands be related to carpal tunnel type of pain? It might be worth trying to find a night brace to try on your hands. The thought is: see if having your hands in a neutral position would prevent the numbness and tingling. Having the hand brace(s) might also make it harder to get in the automatic comfy position.
heating pad, ice packs for back pain. Most heating pads have a twenty minute shut off, so you don’t have to worry about burns.

We invested in an adjustable bed. It has a setting for snoring. If partner snores, you push a button that helps reduce it. I change positions daily according to my needs/pain. Was a great investment. But $$$.

Oh, that with the pillow is actually a good idea! Why did I forget about that? Thanks!! I'll try that out tonight =D

Hmm, I don't think I have carpal tunnel syndrome; mostly, my pain or numbness is in my arms and shoulders when waking up because I sleep with one arm under my head/pillow. It could come from that kind of stretch of the arms, but I should be used to that because I have always been sleeping like that. That's what I'm confused about...

And heat is sadly an absolute no-go. I'm a very hot guy (hahaha ^^), no kidding aside, I'm warm-blooded or what's it called, and I sleep more on the bedsheet than under it because I overheat too fast and then I sweat, and I hate nothing more than that. So the room must be cold, or I sleep on everything instead of under it XD

Oh, okay, wow O_o what's that? Though we have a very comfy bed, maybe it's too soft... as it has kind of two mattresses, one big and one smaller one that can be exchanged.

Well, I will try the pillow trick today! Thanks a lot!

i thought of a few more things.
look Breathe-Right nasal strips. A tape that helps open the nasal passages a bit bigger. Some athletes wear them During sports. can help with snoring.

Have your partner wake you & tell you to lay on your side. It helps reduce snoring.

Adjustable bed is like a hospital bed. The head & feet can be raised/lowered.

Ah yes, I had the idea of nasal strips some time ago as well but didn't end up buying them after checking them out on Amazon because of many negative comments... Well, I could give them a try, that's true...

And okay, yeah, I know those beds, but I think they are too expensive for me, and my hospital days showed me that I totally can't sleep well in them XD, so I probably won't try those anytime soon ;) XD.

I've also heard of an operation for the nasal passages that should help... My worry is that I could develop apnea like my father in the future.

Writing about these topics makes me feel like a totally old dude with all my problems. It's so sad XD.

Yeah- at some point we are happy if 1 of 15 ideas help. 🙃 It is funny to be reminded of my actual age. My mind still thinks I am much younger. I am glad you’re around to have these problems. It can be a distraction from the ugly stuff! ✌️

So true... ^^ I hope my ears are fine soon, then I can finally swim again, and I hope that will help with most problems XD, especially muscle and back-related issues ^^ Thinking about how flexible I once was and how my fascia looks today, welllll ^^
Also, OMG, that sounds kind of troublesome, but I'm glad I could help with distractions. I know how much those are worth sometimes. If you like philosophical hypothetical discussions about life, the universe, and everything, I'm there for you ;)
