The high school I graduated from many years ago is in the spotlight right now. A student passed away from a medical condition he'd had since birth, and now people are starting to find out that he was bullied horribly. They've implemented electronic hall passes so they're able to know where every student is at all times. Sadly, what happened doesn't surprise me; they've looked the other way about bullying for many, many years. I remember well what it was like to go to that school with a disability, although I didn't endure anything close to what this young man suffered through. I knew from other young people who attended the school more recently that the bullying had intensified, become much more severe than name-calling or people trying to trip disabled students.
This really saddens me to no end. You did not deserve to endure how you were treated at that school and neither did that student that has passed away. It's ok to feel upset, angry etc, how you are feeling is a natural response to your experience and to what has happened to this student. There is no right or wrong when it comes to how you feel about this. It's so unfortunate that more awareness and education isn't bringing in enough attention/action to this serious and critical issue. I'm sure this has brought back traumatic, undesirable and unpleasant memories for you.
