Chat issues

I'm using Chrome browser on my phone. I've been having issues for a few weeks with staying connected to chat.
Ends up with me talking but I can't see anyone else talk. So when I reload I can see people have been talking.
So far I've cleared cache and some of the stored memory for chrome.
Not sure what else to try. Also I'm on 4G mobile data as I don't have Wi-Fi internet.
Any advice on what to try would be appreciated. Thank you

From my experience chat and phones is wonky at best. If you are logged into SF on multiple windows on your phone it tends to be worse. So if you have the forum open on one tab and chat open on another, you'll find that chat freezes more frequently. I tend back out of chat and go back in every 10 to 15 min to avoid missing messages. It doesn't solve the problem, but it at least allows me to see what's going on. I have the same issue on PC, but I can just refresh to fix it on a PC. If remember correctly this is an issue Tim looked at before, hopefully he comes along and can explain it better.

Thank you @Nick I have already been doing this but lately can't stay connected long enough for a conversation. In an hours period on chat I had to reload ten times because it happened, just not possible to use chat like this.

I don't have any useful advice to give here. I think it is just a connection or phone issue. Sorry :(

The chat software checks with the server every few seconds to see if anything has been updated, but what you type goes right to the screen (in addition to being sent to the server). A poor connection seems most likely to me if you are seeing yourself type and not others.

I think better chat software might have ways to increase reliability of message delivery even when the connection isn't great, but this chat doesn't seem very good at it. Hence it seems a similar issue pops up at least occasionally for everyone.

I often log in using data on my phone as well. For chat, I keep a forum page open in one tab and every so often I will close my chat tab and click on the chat button again to open a new chat. When on mobile I find I have to load chat way more than when I am on a laptop.

I'm experiencing the same chat problem you have, that is, I talk but cannot see anyone else talk. Then when I reload, I see that people have been talking. Are many participants experiencing the same problem?
