Sf is a support site. It is here for the purpose of offering peer support to people dealing with suicidal thoughts and feelings, discussing the causes of these thoughts and feelings, and offering/finding constructive healthy solutions to these thoughts and feelings.
While support covers many different areas and means many different things to different people, from simply relieving loneliness and having a few laughs in a social setting, to venting and being able to let off steam sometimes, these purposes are very much secondary to the base purpose of the site- discussing the issues causing suicidal thoughts or feelings in a member, and offering healthy constructive solutions to those issues.
Anything that makes this base purpose of the site difficult or antagonistic to individuals and groups of people will be deleted or edited, and repeated issues from the same members will result in accounts be limited, suspended , or permanently ban.
Things that SF is not -
SF is NOT a religious site. That means we do not preach or allow preaching or endorsements of any religion on the main forums. Equally, not religious does not mean we are a anti-religion site. This is not the place to make fun of , antagonize, or poke fun at people that do have religious views. We ask the strongly religious/faithful that wish to use this support site to keep their religious views to themselves, and equally ask those strongly anti-religious to keep their anti-religion viewpoints and jokes to themselves.
SF is NOT a political site. We do not share, endorse, or propagate any political viewpoint whatsoever. We do not allow members to use SF as a platform to push their views. Politics is a divisive topic which has nothing to do with peer support. This is not the place to debate or discuss the policies of any country/area unless it is as a solution to a specific problem being faced by a specific individual. There are many political sites on the internet devoted to the change or implementation of public policy on everything from healthcare to foreign policy- but this is not one of them.
SF is NOT a social media platform. Our purpose here is not primarily social. While social interaction fosters better mental health, and engaging with people socially certainly plays a part in preventing or eliminating suicidal thoughts, and the lack of that engagement can certainly cause or exacerbate suicidal thoughts, social interaction is a secondary purpose. Anytime social interaction causes people in need of support to feel ignored, left out, or disregarded then the social portion has exceeded the tolerances for the site.
SF is NOT a public site. We are a private website and our rules and decisions supercede any freedom of speech rights or beliefs of users/members. There is no "free speech" on any private site on the internet - all private sites are entitled to their own rules and policies as a condition of use. You have the right to choose to use the site or not . We do not charge any fees, collect any personal information, nor even sell advertising or "clicks" . We gain nothing and lose nothing by membership counts or participation except as a support community of people looking for support or offering support to others (or both). If you do not like the rules of the site do not use the site. If you use the site following the rules is expected and accounts will be permanently ban if necessary to ensure rules are followed. Donations to assist in paying costs for the site are appreciated however confer no privilege, perk, or exception to any rule or policy.
